Lately I've been reminded by a few different things that I love to read. Unfortunately, I don't take the time to read very often. Sunday School yesterday gave me a renewed determination, so I'm asking for your help. D & C 88:118 tells us to study out of the best books. So what are some of the best books you know of? They can be religious, classics, historical, poetic, biographical. . . anything you think would be educational or uplifting or just a good read. I'll take whatever suggestions you can give me. Thanks!

You are welcome to anything on my bookshelf when you come over. (We had the same lesson!)
Yes Man by Danny Wallace is my favorite book of all time. There was a movie made last year that was loosely based on it, but I refuse to see it. It's a great book that really changes the way you think about everything.
I'm in the middle of A Year Of Living Biblically by AJ Jacobs.
my mother got me interested in Martha Grimes, Richard Jury mysteries. All the books are named weird names, like "the Deer Leap" or "the Stargazey", they're named after British pubs. They are very good books. I've read them so many times that now I can't re read them because I know what's going to happen. But ONLY the Richard Jury books are good. I've read another novel by her and thought it was horrible.
Also P.D.James is excellent. Another English mystery writer. And she also has a series that follows a detective, Adam Dagliesh. I have some if you want to look through them the next time you are out here from both authors. Actually it will give me a reason to get them out of the boxes in the garage.
And if you have anything to reccomend please do. I am almost finished with the book I'm reading. Oh The House at Riverton by Kate Morton, really good too.
Hi Kelsey - this is Sister Freitas - Rachael's mommy. I "stalk" you through her blog - hope you don't mind. I have really enjoyed the series by Alexander McCall Smith - The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. There are 9 or 10 books in the series. They are set in Botswana, and are very fun to read. They are classified as mysteries, but they are light on the mystery, but are nice, funny, and very moral stories. Another one of my favorites was Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Excellent book (not a mystery) - haven't watched the movie yet. Your friend Heather recommended P.D. James and the Adam Dalgliesh character is VERY good. They can be a bit gruesome at times, and you have to be in the mood to really think and focus when you read her books, but they are GOOD. She really gets into character development. I stopped reading Martha Grimes' books as the stories became darker and darker and more violent. The early ones are good, though. Our book club recently read The Giver by Lois Lowry, which I think most kids read in 7th or 8th grade English. That one generated about two hours of discussion!
Thanks everyone. (Sister Freitas-you can stalk me anytime if you really want!) I am really excited to read all these and more. Now if I could only find more time. . .
