Catching Up

A lot has happened in the past few months. As with every year the holidays were a busy time. With both of our families so close we were able share the holidays with both sides. For Halloween we spent the evening hanging out with the Wallingers and Seenos.

Thanksgiving and Christmas we were able to split time with both families, and it was especially fun to play with the little kids that we don't get to see a lot.

Work has been going well for both of us. I have recently finished a long term substitute position in a 7th grade math class. It meant having to drive back and forth to Oakley each week, but it was nice to have consistent work for a few months. Now it's back to the day to day calls from the various school districts. Although, lately I have been getting calls pretty regularly. Kelsey is still working at Oak Hill Cemetery and continues to learn more aspects of the accounting office.

We both also find time for various hobbies. Kelsey is still making cards, she is especially excited about using the new Cricut she got for Christmas. She does find it hard to find spare time to do crafting now that she works full time. I have become interested in working on family history and have found a lot of cool stories and experiences. We have also added HAM radio to our list of hobbies. We went with Kelsey's dad and have passed the test to receive our licenses. We are still learning about it, but Bryce is excited to help us, so it should be fun.

September Fun

Sorry. It's been a while. Nothing too exciting I guess. Work is keeping us pretty business but we're trying to fit in some fun times.

We made a trip out to NV with Trek and Rachel to see Kyle, Suzanne and Caraline! We had a blast hanging out with family. I can't believe she's a year old now. She is so cute and fun. We even made a day trip to the Grand Canyon. It was beautiful and awe-inspiring.

Then it was back to the real world. First I got sick. . . bronchitis :(

Sam got a long term sub job at least until Thanksgiving, maybe longer :D

I had a birthday. My coworkers were great. They got me flowers and a pineapple upside down cake that was delicious. There was a cookie on the top of the cake that said "Happy Birthday Kelsey" There was even a little left over.

I went to a baby shower for a friend it was a lot of fun with good munchies and great company. Here's a picture of the card I mad her:

I had fun with some gift cards a got for my birthday! I bought a cute pair of work shoes and some fall decorations. (Thanks Laurie!)

For some reason, I am really excited for fall this year. No, I still hate the cold. But I do love the colors, and the sweaters, and the home decor, and the food. I can't wait to wear sweat shirts everywhere and eat pumpkin pie!

May Cards (long post)

May is a very busy month for me. Last week I sat down and did all the cards I would need this month. . .TEN! It was fun to make my first wedding cards and Mothers' Day cards. I think they turned out pretty good! Most of the paper is from two very large pads you can get at Michael's and probably other places: Totally Girl and Complete Boy by My Mind's Eye. And I am totally in love with clear stamps. They make every project so much easier than using stickers, typing it on the computer, or (worst of all) hand writing it!

Here they are in chronological order. (In case you can't read the stamps I will include captions below the pictures.)

May 6th, My brother Brandon's birthday:
"Age is only a number. Mine is unlisted."

May 7th, Uncle Dwain and my cousin Austin's birthdays:
"You look good for your age, almost human."

May 9th, Mother's Day:

May 11th, My sister Rachel's birthday:
"Just think, with every birthday you're even closer to being more like your parents."

May 15th, My cousin Spencer's wedding reception, my coworker Parveen's wedding, and my cousin Andrea's birthday:

May 25th, Aunt Shannon's birthday:
"You're only young once. You can be immature for a lifetime."

I am definitely improving. By the time Christmas comes around I will be an expert. I love developing my talent by making cards for the people I care about most: my family.
I love you all.

Cards

I finally remembered to take pictures of the cards I made. April is a busy birthday month for my family. I also found these stamps that make birthday cards really easy and cute (see the insides of the first and last cards). Next month is busy too so there will probably be more to come. . . if I can remember to take pictures. Enjoy!

New Opportunities

This past week has been pretty exciting. On Monday, I interviewed for an accounts receivable position at Oak Hill Funeral Home. Tuesday, they offered me a part time position in the accounting department, which I gladly excepted. Wednesday and Thursday went by a little stressfully trying to get everything set up and in order. Friday, I worked half the day in the records department learning some of my new responsibilities. And Saturday afternoon, I did more training for my new position.

Officially starting next Friday, I will be working 32 hours a week, including 8-5 Friday and Saturday and two other days a week to be determined later. I am so excited to learn another side of the funeral business and even more excited to have steady hours (I also won't have to worry so much about getting sunburnt in the hot cemetery sun)! I am looking forward to all of the opportunities and experiences that this new position will bring.
